Bootcamp Offerings

Summary of the AI Bootcamp for Educators

The AI Bootcamp for Educators is a comprehensive 3-day training program designed to empower university professors with the knowledge and tools necessary to develop and deliver an effective AI curriculum. The program focuses on practical teaching methods, curriculum integration, and fostering an ethical understanding of AI among students. Educators will learn how to apply AI concepts and tools to enhance their teaching and prepare students for an AI-driven job market. The bootcamp includes both in-person sessions and self-study components to ensure a thorough understanding of AI concepts and their applications in education.

The program is delivered by highly qualified Microsoft Certified Trainers (MCT) who hold various certifications in AI and related fields. These instructors have practical, hands-on experience in today’s complex business environments and use this experience to create a cooperative learning experience that goes beyond course materials and labs

 

Course Outline

Day 1: Understanding AI and Curriculum Development

  • Introduction to AI and its Educational Significance: Overview of AI concepts, history, and evolution. Discussion on the importance of AI in education and its potential impact on various industries33
  • AI Concepts and Applications: Detailed exploration of AI applications in different sectors, including practical examples and case studies
  • Curriculum Development Strategies: Techniques for integrating AI into existing curricula. Best practices for developing an AI curriculum that aligns with educational goals and student needs
  • Hands-On Session: Interactive activities to help educators understand AI tools and technologies. Practical exercises to apply AI concepts in real-world scenarios

Day 2: Hands-On AI Tools and Technologies

  • Introduction to Microsoft Azure AI Services: Overview of Azure AI services and their applications in education.
  • Practical Sessions with AI Tools: Hands-on experience with AI tools and technologies. Educators will learn how to use these tools to develop AI projects and practical exercises.
  • Developing AI Projects: Step-by-step guidance on creating AI projects. Educators will work on projects that can be integrated into their teaching.
  • Best Practices for Teaching AI: Strategies for effectively teaching AI concepts and tools. Tips for engaging students and making AI learning interactive and enjoyable.
  • Introduction to AI-900: Microsoft Azure AI fundamentals

Day 3: Ethical Considerations and Advanced AI Topics

  • Ethical Implications of AI in Education: Discussion on the ethical considerations of AI. Strategies for fostering an ethical understanding of AI among students.
  • Advanced AI Topics: Exploration of advanced AI topics and their applications in education. Topics may include machine learning, deep learning, and AI-driven decision-making
  • Collaborative Discussions: Group discussions to refine teaching approaches and share best practices. Educators will collaborate to develop strategies for integrating advanced AI topics into their curricula
  • Final Project Presentation: Educators will present their AI projects and receive feedback from peers and instructors

Supporting educational institutions with professional development opportunities

Cybersecurity and AI skills are in demand across every industry and sector. As part of Microsoft’s AI Skills initiative, Microsoft is offering curriculum, resources, and training to support faculty and educators who provide or are interested in providing training and enablement for student Cybersecurity and AI skilling.
The Microsoft Learn for Educators Cybersecurity and AI Bootcamp training for faculty includes three sessions over 3 days:

Day 1: One in-person 3.5-hour introduction event to be scheduled at an agreed upon date, time, and location. The agenda includes:

  • Overview of the Microsoft Cybersecurity and AI Bootcamp
  • Step-by-step, hands-on orientation to enroll and use the classroom materials, benefits, resources, and content related Cybersecurity and AI available through the Microsoft Learn for Educator (MSLE) program and experiencing generative AI using Copilot (and your own creativity)

Day 2: This 3-hour virtual training on teaching SC-900: Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals course includes: 

  • Core Teaching Content and Microsoft Learn for Educators Overview 
  • SC-900: Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals
    • The fundamentals of security, compliance, and identity (SCI) across cloud-based and related Microsoft services 
    • Exam Preparation – Microsoft Learn Practice Assessments 
    • Certification & Requesting Accommodations 

Day 3: This 3-hour virtual training on teaching SC-200: Security Operations Analyst Associate course includes: 

  • SC-200: Security Operations Analyst Associate
    • Investigate, search for, and mitigate threats using Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, and Microsoft 365 Defender
    • Gaining Practical Experience with Microsoft Azure AI Services (including Skillable and GitHub course labs) 
  • Moving from SC-900 to SC-200 
  • Curriculum Integration 
  • Helping Students Highlight their Cybersecurity and AI Skills in the Job Market

This instructor-led bootcamp, delivered by Sunset Learning Institute offers educators a glimpse into the power of Generative AI for teaching. The bootcamp teaches K-12 and higher education educators how to create a syllabus, lesson plans, quizzes, assignments, and grading rubrics using AI tools. Participants will learn effective prompting techniques, engage in collaborative projects and discussions, and access teaching resources through the Microsoft Learn for Educators (MSLE) program.

By the conclusion of this bootcamp, educators will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to use technology to make learning more interactive and impactful.

The bootcamp is delivered over one 6.5-hour in-person session.
